Below is a list of frequently asked questions:
What is an Estate Sale?
An estate sale is when we sell the contents of a home once someone has passed on or to facilitate a move to a smaller home such as an assisted living community.
How much does it cost?
Every sale is unique and for an accurate estimate we would have to walk through the home. Rates can range from around 30%-45% on average. In general, the larger the estate you have the lower percentage commission you will pay, save even more by listing the home for sale!
What is included in your commission?
We have no hidden charges. We will prepare, advertise, display, price and research your items. There are no advertising or "set-up" fees! We take care of everything!
Can you sell the home as well?
Yes we can! We will save you more money and have one less person to contact! Have us sell your home and save even more on selling the contents! We often market the home during the estate sale which is much like an "Open House".
What part of the sale is our family responsible for if we hire you?
Simply put, nothing, we take care of everything!
What about all of the "junk"?
This is the easy part. Do not throw anything away! One of the reasons you will hire us is that we have the knowledge of what sells and what doesn't. A great example of this is at one of our sales there was a box of "junk" in the basement to be thrown away . We found that the piece of cardboard lining the bottom of the box was a rare and original concert poster! The family was going to throw it out, we sold it for $900. I could give endless examples so please, please leave the junk to us!
How and when do we get paid?
We pay within 48 hours after the sale. Your choice of payment includes cash or certified bank check, the choice is yours!
How much notice to you need to schedule a sale?
We have successfully completed sales with less than 3 days notice but that is the exception. Best thing is to call with your specific situation and most likely we can accommodate. The longer the notice, the better we can promote and prepare.
I don't believe I have any antiques, can I still have an Estate Sale?
Yes you can! It does not have to be an antique to be valuable.
For example, 1950's-70's items are in high demand right now including everything from furniture to your old toys!
I don't think I have enough for a sale, can you still help?
Yes, we can consign items in other sales or just buy them outright from you.
What items would you be interested in purchasing from me?
We are interested in just about everything so the best thing is to call. Some items may include musical instruments, old electronics and stereo equipment, vinyl records, jewelry, coins, stamps, older toys, tools, glassware, silverware, sports cards etc...
